About WMB
A Salford contractor since 1982
Two companies, one office, one way of working: do the survey properly, price it honestly and leave the building better than you found it.
How the two companies work together
WMB began as an electrical contractor in 1982, working for builders and facilities teams around Greater Manchester. Clients kept asking whether we could take the mechanical services too, so we built a division to do it rather than sub it out and hope.
The two companies share an office at Ventures House in Salford, a estimating team and a programme. You can appoint either on its own — plenty of clients do — or hand over the full M&E package and deal with one person from first survey to final certificate.
Our engineers are directly employed, which is why the same faces turn up on day one and on the snagging visit. We train apprentices through the trade so the next generation learns on real sites rather than in a classroom alone.

Where we work
Based in Salford, working across Greater Manchester and the North West. For sites further afield, ask us — if we can resource it properly, we'll price it.

How we work
Three things we don't compromise on
01
Quality you can check
Work is inspected as it goes in, not after the ceiling is closed. Every job leaves with test results, commissioning figures, as-installed drawings and an O&M pack — and we keep a copy so we can answer questions years later.
02
Budgets that hold
We price from a real survey and flag the things likely to move before you commit. Variations are quoted and agreed in writing before any extra work starts, so there are no surprises at final account.
03
Safety as routine
Risk assessments and method statements for every job, permits and isolations agreed with your team, and site supervision that keeps the working area clean, signed and safe for the people still using the building.
Training
Apprentices on site, not just on paper
We take on apprentices through both divisions and keep them with experienced engineers from the first week. It is the only way we know to keep a trade going — and it means the person testing your circuits learned on buildings much like yours.
Ask about apprenticeships
Accreditations & memberships
Held current and renewed on schedule. Ask us for certificates when you're assembling a tender pack.
Next step
Work with a contractor who answers the phone
Tell us what the building needs. We'll survey it, price it and give you a programme you can plan around.
